1: a few free name changes for standard users
like myself, my name for some reason is not complete, I put in a few more letters but they weren't in my final username for some reason
2: quick note history, could come in handy sometimes
So basically, you're suggesting that some of the premium features be available for standard members as well? The staff need to have some reason to convince us to buy premium memberships. Yes, I know those aren't the only premium features, but if you're wanting those to be available for all because, well, the convenience of it, there's no real reason others shouldn't be made available for the same reason.
no, I meant 3 or 4 like facebook, once you used them that's it until you got premium

You do get one username change with a standard membership, but you won't be able to use it for 30 days from the day you chose your current one. Just be sure to keep the character limit in mind when choosing your next one.
Even paying for one year of premium membership only gets you one username change, so it's not like the premiums get unlimited username changes or anything like that.
my problem with the first 1 is, how much is a few?
you're gonna get 1, 2, 3, and before you know it... you can change your username as often as you like. there's gonna be people that just keep wanting more and more changes- if it actually happened, which i don't believe it will.
and with the quicknote history, yeah that is premium and i think it should stay premium
If I'm not mistaken you can buy username changes if you want them. Actually they may be able to get more out of users if a few other of their features were for sale on an individual basis, of course marked up accordingly to make up the difference. But there's the software changes involved, which are a debit, so it may not make sense.
Anyway this site doesn't get the kind of advertising traffic Facebook and Twitter do, so they have to charge for some things. I don't think they're being restrictive, they simply have to keeep the lights on somehow, and since it caters to blind users, that's a really small group of people.

also on an unrelated note, anyone know why I can't hear any sounds or even audio profiles? are those also premium?
as to the history, well maybe not a full history but maybe the last 1 or 2 privates you got could be there, in case you missed it by accident and the person's not just siting there wondering why you're ignoring their last message
oh psht, ignore the last part about sounds not playing, that was for some reason having sounds in webpages turned off in IE, *facefalt* lol fail on my part
I totally agree with the Quicknotes History for standard users too. Also I think us Standard users should have the rights to use Randomisers too.

if we take all the features away from premium (quick note jhistory, randomiser) etc etc, people arn't going to buy it
I think jaws and windoweyes should be free! I think Braille embossers should be free. Awe, heck. everything in WalMart should be free. just go in and grab what ya want, right?

okay, imo you guys are taking this way too seriously, I mean its only 1 feature that we're asking about, its not like we're asking for the whole list to be free
But that's the point we're trying to make. if that feature should be free, then why not all others? Please, tell me why this feature should be free, but all others that you're not asking about here should not? Invisibility is my favorite premium feature. So let's say, for a second, that I'm asking just for that one feature to be available to all members? Nothing else; just invisibility. But here's the problem: if that feature were to become free, I wouldn't have as much inscentive to buy another premium, because my favorite feature is now standard. So now that I've suggested that invisibility should be free, and you've suggested QN history, now someone else comes along, seeing that these two features are now available to all, and asks if extra anagram games can also be made standard. Anyway, I think you get the point. I know you haven't been here very long in the grand scheme of things, but did you know that there are some standard features you now have access to that used to be premium only? Do you like being able to set your status message? Well, guess what? Yep, that's right. Standards couldn't do that for quite awhile. Do you like anagram Speed word? Granted, that particular game was never actually premium only, but it was supposed to be once it came out of beta. If the staff keep giving standards more features that were once premium only, eventually nobody will want to pay, the site will lose money, and noone will have any of them. Hey, in my personal opinion, I don't think it's fair that premiums get 3 minutes for audio profiles while standards only get 30 seconds. I think everyone should have at least 1 minute. And I'm premium, so I'm certainly not saying this to try and get more features. But I doubt that will ever happen. You know why? because I'm one of thousands of members here, and it would take a lot more than just a couple people to convince the staff that it would be worthwhile.

I do see the point on seeing maybe the last 2 or 3 private quicknotes though, right now if you miss it you miss it. It wouldn't be a full qn history, juse enough to maybe help you realize woops i missed this message or oh yeah this is what we were talking about.
If you do change your name, please put spaces in between the words. Some names sound horrible when they are all jumbled together
